December 15, 2003—B’nai B’rith International today sent the following letter of thanks President George Bush expressing the organization’s thanks and gratitude for the capture of Saddam Hussein:
The Honorable George W. Bush
President of the United States
Dear Mr. President:
This is a proud moment in American history and for your presidency.
We commend your leadership as Commander and Chief and the resolve with which you are staying the course in the battle to eliminate terrorism and promote stability in the Middle East.
We offer our support and gratitude to the 600 men and women of the 1st Brigade Combat Team of the 4th Infantry Division. To all the men and women in uniform who stand in harms way, we offer our prayerful thanks and continued hope that they will be protected by divine guidance until their safe return to their homes and families.
The capture of Saddam Hussein by American forces was a great day for democracy.
Mr. President, as a country we have been tested, and under your leadership we have prevailed.
During this holiday season, we wish you and your family a joyous celebration.
Sincerely,
Joel S. Kaplan
International President
Daniel S. Mariaschin
Executive Vice President
