Is College an Option?

Just twenty years ago, if a student was enrolled in high school, he or she was able to make a decision about whether or not to go to college. It was still possible, and even likely, for the student to find a job in various industries right out of high school. Many did not want to be enrolled in school longer but wanted to get into the workforce. Today, things are different and in many ways more challenging. Is college even an option anymore?

If your child is considering the option of not going to college and you are concerned about his or her well being, you may want to consider the options available. Specifically, take into consideration what he or she may do after school. In some cases, students still find opportunities without having a college degree, though the child may be locked out of other industries nonetheless.

If a trade school is an option, consider programs that allow high school juniors and seniors to enroll. It may also be beneficial for the student to take a few aptitude tests to help the student to learn where his or her strengths lie so that a better educational decision can be obtained.

In many cases, going to college is still an option, not something that is mandatory. However, there is another important fact to consider. Many students who could enter the workforce out of school into the career of their choice are going to college first and then heading into that field. This means that many candidates are far more qualified than others because those candidates have the necessary college education to make them more valuable to employers. Consider these factors when considering college education.
